Ford Maintenance Plan Options
Purchasing a vehicle is an important investment and most owners undoubtedly want to keep it running smoothly and safely for as long as possible. Ford Maintenance Plans are designed to keep vehicles properly maintained by staying on top of regular maintenance needs.
Ford offers two types of maintenance plans for Ford-made vehicles.
- Ford Maintenance Protection Plan (FMPP)
- Ford Limited Plan (FLP)
Whether the vehicle has a hybrid-engine or diesel, these plans are designed in such a way that they match each vehicle’s needs specifically.
Let’s take a look at the differences, benefits, and features of the two plans so you can choose the most suitable one for yourself!
Ford Maintenance Protection Plan
The FMPP covers Ford-recommended maintenance. The plan can be chosen for a variety of time periods to cover ranging from 2 years to 8 years. Every plan under the FMPP specifies the number of scheduled visits in which your car will go under maintenance. This plan is applicable for Diesel, Cab and Chassis and Electric vehicles as well.
Pricing varies based on the type of vehicle the plan is designed for. Please contact Legacy Ford to inquire about the cost of purchasing a Ford Maintenance Protection Plan.
- Scheduled Maintenance
Each plan specifies the time, date and frequency of visits to your dealership. The scheduled visit will take care of several things that include replacing the oil filter, change engine oil, wheel-end noise, check and change the transmission fluid. In addition, lubricating the 4x4 front axle and inspection of brake pads are also covered by this maintenance plan.
- 8 Wear Items
In cases of common wear and tear situations, the FMPP also inspects and covers the maintenance costs for 8 common items. The 8 common items include brake pads, brake rotors, clutch discs, shock absorbers, and spark plugs. Additionally, the plan covers defected or damaged wiper blades, engine belts and coolants and light bulbs. However, the plan does not cover LED bulbs and HID lamps in a basic maintenance plan. These lights are covered by the Premium Maintenance Plan.
- Multi-Point Inspection
Ford is equipped with experts and experienced technicians all over Canada and the US. Therefore, with this maintenance plan, they put to use to their experts and put your vehicle under thorough inspection in order to find issues in performance and other technical issues. The inspection includes checking and filling fluid levels, such as power steering and transmission.
Ford Limited Maintenance Plan
The LMP is particularly designed to meet maintenance needs for pre-owned vehicles. This plan covers diesel cars, hybrid and gas cars. Pre-owned vehicles are not brand new, but they surely deserve to be treated and cared for as new. Therefore, with this LMP, your vehicle is covered for:
- Multi-Point Inspection
On each of your scheduled visit, your vehicle will be thoroughly inspected by technicians that aim to find and solve performance-related issues. Under this, oil and fuel levels are checked and updated, power steering, wheel rotation, exhaust systems an oil leaks are also investigated.
- Engine Oil and Filter Change
Engine oil and filter change is something that you, as a car owner, cannot precisely tell is needed. Therefore, the maintenance plans let technicians at Ford take care of it and do what the vehicle truly needs.
- Time and Distance Selection
The LMP is offered in different variations in terms of time duration, distance and schedule visit intervals. The time range varies from 1 year to 4 years.
Give Your Vehicle the Care it Deserves!

The FMPP and LMP are different than one another in several ways. However, the core similarities between the two are that they both are $0 deductible plans, have a multi-point inspection covered, and are available for diesel and hybrid cars both. Both plans put to use genuine and reliable ford-made parts, use high-quality fuels for replacement, and also follow maintenance guidelines are suggested in the user manual. Keep in mind that the prices for each plan vary based upon the time duration and distance you select!
